Contextual backlinks, still an effective strategy

I just want to share an experiment I did, after optimizing the website in all aspects, and building backlinks except contextual backlinks, my website made it to the top 5. After building contextual backlinks from websites with a decent DA my website ranked 1 in a matter of days.

So, it seems that contextual links are still an important factor to position, what do you think?
