Something I don't quite understand in regards of page indexing and sitemap.

Okay guys, I know I sound like an absolute ignorant but I really want to clear this confusion. So let's just say I make a brand new website, I create about 10 pages and now I want Google to index my website so it ranks. Now, do I manually copy each page url including homepage to the google search console? or do I make a sitemap for these 10 pages and submit the sitemap only?

Also , let's just say, after quite some time I decide to make a few other pages, Do I submit each url link of a new page to the search console or does the sitemap automatically update and sends this new page to google ?
