Need SEO help understanding about redirects, and exclusions.
I am basically a self employed dog trainer, and I don't know much about SEO or website development. But I have been doing wordpress websites since 2007 and I think I have a reasonably nice site with good copy.
Anyway, I was ranking on SERP page 1 and in the google 3 pack. I am still on the google 3 pack but no longer ranking.
I do everything myself, cause I don't know how to select a good seo company, can't afford one, and am afraid of getting ripped off.
You see, I changed the name and the domain about 6 months ago to reflect changes in my service.
anyway, the webhost is redirecting the old site to the new site.'
Google search console is still under the old domain name and shows 2 valid and 204 excluded. What does that even mean? I am sure it's not good.
Average position is 28.9.
73 pages with a redirect 54 pages crawled and presently not indexed 40 Alternate page with proper canonical tag 22 not found (404) 5 soft 404 5 excluded "no index tage" 5 Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user validation is N/A on all of the above Can anybody take pity on this poor senior and help me out?
Should i remove the redirect from the old site domain to the new site domain and forget the old site ever existed?
I am a senior, and I don't get rich from my service, but it pays the bills and supplements ss and I am technicalogically handicapped when it comes to computers and the jargon. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
