Question: We want Google to target a new URL organically. Can this be done?
What’s up you beautiful community!
Here’s a little background information. Essentially, we rank really well (Page 1) for the term “rugs” in Google. It brings up our Homepage which is great for us. We also do moderately well in rankings for the term “rug” but we are struggling to see any movement no matter what we do. The problem is, both searches bring up our Homepage.
Our idea is to change Google’s mind and pull up our main category page for the term “rug” instead. Can this be done? We’re going to be pushing out some content soon which will all be internal linked to the category page under the anchor text of “rug” and we’ll also be directing some back links to the site that way as well.
Is there any chance of Google switching which URL it brings up for us for the “Rug” term and bringing though our category page rather than our homepage? Yet still keeping the Homepage ranking for “Rugs”
Cheers guys!
