Single product store - homepage or product page

Hi there, we are launching a new software company in the near future, there will be a single specialist plugin product and a library of "power ups" of a sort, that will be for sale.

My SEO-related question: This piece of software will be the only product that the company sells for about a year, after that more products will be added.

So... do we

1. build out the website homepage as a product page for this piece of software, or
2. do we establish the structure now that will be needed when we have multiple products, i.e. having a subpage for this product and link to hat from the home

I'm guessing there is no right or wrong answer here, but would be great to hear what best practice would be considered to be, and if there are any best practices to follow?
