I'm hoping someone can help as I have tried searching google for this but there is so many different answers.

I have a website that started as an e-commerce site but evolved into an affiliate site too.

As I was initially only looking at the UK market I registered the domain as a co.uk.

The site is currently ranking well in the UK but I'm now looking at trying to rank in the US and I'm not sure if the .co.uk is affecting this.

Would it be beneficial if I purchased the .com domain and would that make any difference in my site ranking in the US?

How would that look, could I just redirect traffic to the UK site?
