Duplicate Content when executing a programmatic SEO strategy

In the context of programmatic SEO: If we have 100s of pages (like Zapier) with same template stucture and have say 5-6 sections. Can we just copy portions of the page (like company description) from other public sources? Will it harm us?

There are cases where people have copied the description from better known companies. I noticed that lesser known companies are ranking higher than Zapier, even though they copied the company name description from Zapier's integration pages. So looks like there is a way to do this and still succeed. How?
