301 redirecting *only* a single blog post to another website benefits?

Instead of change of address'ing an entire site and 301'ing everything over to pass link juice, what are the effects of setting a 301 redirect on a single article and moving that specific article to the other site?

Is there a best practice here?

Say, if I have two sites in the same niche, and I want to move one piece of content over from one site to the other, can I just set a redirect and pass all those backlinks over?
