Adding Semantic Keywords?

I have an article from a client that has a list of 'semantic keywords' in the client brief. Now I'm quite new to professional content writing and while I have worked with SEO, ot is the first time I'm hearing of semantic keywords. Some of them include large and grammatically wrong "semantic " keywords such as "how to avoid get hit by ball". I just want to know if incorporating semantic keywords require a different approach than core keywords. Am I to just add it like they are or tweak them a bit, and then move on? Please let me know if anyone can help me understand
