Question about Canonicals & Pageination

Can anyway shed some more light on either of these? Our blog is run through Hubspot which is supposed to automatically canonicalize pages but I am still getting a bunch of duplicate content issues when I run a crawl in screaming frog. Most of these seem to be coming from category & topic pages. Is this an issue that can negatively effect our site and what is best practices for dealing with this?
