EMD vs Different domain for 1 keyword

Hi Folks,

I want to rank for a keyword and EMD with low content and low quality backlinks is ranking for #1

I thought of buying emd but its available in .pro extension.

I have setup different domain with better content and doing some link building which has this particular keyword in domain after a month I ranked at 50 for that keyword.

1.What are my chances for the top? 2. Should I go for EMD with pro extension? 3. Or continue working on it?

Will I succeed or get left out due to EMD
