What will the standings of SEO in the upcoming years?

Hey people. I have read, watched a lot of articles and videos regarding SEO and the Standings of SEO in the near future is still Vague to me.

some say SEO will be dead in the up coming years, some say do branding instead of traditional SEO.

and even the latest trends are not defined, it varies from tactics to tactics, niche to niche and even some times person to person.
