Organic traffic with no backlinks?

I just started a blog and have a bunch of articles ready (20-30) from a long time ago when I had planned but didn't start the website. I am very new to SEO but I read a lot of stuff here and I feel like I have a basic grasp of how to optimize my content. I'm not sure I would be actively trying to build backlinks though.

With 30 articles and a couple more each week onwards starting next months, can I expect any small consistent organic traffic in a matter of weeks? Or is backlinking extremely important?
