Starting on SEO for a digital marketing agency - need to prove value to my boss

Hey guys,

I'm the marketing coordinator for a digital agency, and my boss wants me to start on generating genuine backlinks for our blog. I'd say our blogs are certainly of high quality, well researched and authoritative.

So far, I've reached out to 30 sites via SEMrush (which was quite time consuming). I fear that whatever I'm doing isn't efficient enough and that my boss will think that I'm barely doing anything.

I'm looking for efforts beside from backlink outreach that I can implement up front to show the boss that I'm researching a lot, and taking action, because I feel as though he thinks that outreach is taking up too much time with little results.
