What do you think about this backlink strategy?

I been working for my websites SEO for a while and Lately i've been struggling to have other businesses/websites point to my website, so im thinking of having an "affiliate" page where i can generate a link to their website, even though we might not be in the same industry, the tricky part here is "the pitch" is to have them link back to mine or even add an affiliate page of their own.

How would you pitch this and What other strategies other than sponsored stuff do you guys go with? anyone down to DM their website for some SEO juice is more than welcome to do so!
