GA - Organic Traffic Showing Up As Direct
Hey guys,
I’m looking for any resources or client facing answers for why Google Analytics often incorrectly categorizes organic traffic or conversions under direct traffic category.
I own a Shopify store I know is not getting the high level of direct conversions(paid conversions only) it’s showing for example.
Also I’ve been reporting on contact form opt-ins as aggregate (direct+organic) to my client. I started doing it when I directly tested it through search engine and saw it recorded as direct.
Now I’m looking for an explanation so the guy trying to be the expert doesn’t throw me under the bus in front of the CEO.
