Does number of outlinks matter anymore?

Hello! Relatively new to SEO and I've been tasked with finding the answer to this question. I've read a lot of controversial opinions on the internet, and lots of articles are a few years old so I am not sure if the trends have changed. My question is:

If you are linking to quality, authoritative websites in an article/blog post that are relevant to your reader, is there a limit of how many links would be too many to have the page be considered leaky? For example, would 10 be too many in a 2000 word article? I realize there's not really a definitive answer to this question, just looking for some insight from someone more experienced in the field of SEO! Thanks!
