I Lost A Client To Honesty, Was I Wrong?

Today I was talking to a potential client who had reached out to me via Facebook for SEO services for his local landscaping business. He seemed very eager to get started and told me about how he was looking to expand immediately to keep the ball rolling on growing his business. This all sounded great for me as he was the ideal business owner I look to work with; however, something didn't seem right. I felt as though his perception of SEO was off and he didn't really understand what he was getting for his business so I decided to be upfront with him. I told him that SEO is a long game and you're looking at 6+ months maybe even a year since he had a newer website until he starts to see real solid and consistent results. Now I've seen it happen quicker but I can't promise that it will and I would update him through the entire process with meetings and whatever else he would need to feel comfortable with his SEO services. I could see this took him back a little because 6 months was a long time than he had expected and he thanked me for being honest and told me he would get back to me.

To this day I still haven't heard back from him and he has ghosted all of my follow-up messages. I feel bad for losing the client but at the same time, I'm happy I was able to help someone out and maybe even give some knowledge about SEO assuming he didn't immediately get swooped up by another SEO company promising overnight results.
