Watching The Ship Crash And Burn, A Story Of How Poor SEO Hurts Your Site

A while back I had a client whom I did work for by optimizing the SEO both internally and externally on their website. This included core web vitals, mobile optimizations, content, backlinking, and basically anything else you could think of to help this site rank. He wasn't a big business by any means necessary and worked in the service industry. Eventually we did in fact get his site to rank well but then he caught news of a foreign SEO company charging dirt cheap prices. Apparently it was his friend who had introduced him as he had a business that was using these guys and they charged about $50 or so a month and apparently his site was moving up in rank at that point in time.

Now I warned him that companies like this often practice poor SEO habits and once things go bad they will leave you out to dry and it could take days upon days to fix it while also losing all the progress we've made so far. The warning didn't stick however as he decided to take his chances and see how fate would play out. It's now been 4 months and although I haven't said anything I've been monitoring his site through Google analytics as he never took my account off and things have begun to take a turn for the worst. It seems as though hes lost major amounts of traffic and when examining his link profile there are hundreds and hundreds of spam sites with foreign domains. It's tough to see but SEO is a no cutting corners industry and ultimately you get what you pay for I hope this story is enough to convince anyone thinking of buying that $20 SEO service to think twice.
