Consistently publishing quality content weekly, how will the growth come?

After almost a year of work with my girlfriend, our saas side project is officially live.

Now I'm not really in a rush to be come the next shiny twitter verified entrepreneur because I have a very fine job - what we want is passive income from it and we're patient. We have figured out that we can write a total of 3 very high quality blog posts per week with targeted keywords, screenshots and infographics.

What I don't understand though is how will the organic growth come? Will google with time just pick up some nice blog posts and rank them on the first page and then it's a snowball effect as the domain authority and natural backlinks grow? Is consistently publishing like this a legit strategy, or will we just waste time writing blog posts that will live on the 2nd page?
