Using .shop instead of .com?

I want to create a new domain name for my webshop (which is already built). But we already have a 'corporate' main website with information from the company (different website than our webshop, made by a different company). which uses our brandname.com It would be much better for the webshop to have that exact domain name. I was thinking of using brandname.shop for our webshop. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations how to handle this situation? Will this be bad for SEO? or is .shop a good domain name? If people search for our brandname, which results will they see first? Traffic should preferably be directed to the webshop. Thank you
