Moving out of SEO - Career Advice?

I'm currently a technical SEO executive with 2.5 years of experience and have the opportunity of moving into a senior technical SEO specialist role. I've progressed pretty quickly in my company and I do technical, content, and local SEO in my role so my SEO skills are pretty varied and I'd say decent. However, I think long-term I'd like to move into other areas of marketing, perhaps a more generic role encompassing more channels, or something more related to social media and content. Does anyone have any experience of moving outside of SEO, do you think with my skills and experience in SEO I'd be able to move into more generic roles? Any advice on this?
