How to send code for SEO?

I usually only accept jobs with Wordpress. One of my clients was desperate for help in their niche but their website is custom coded by someone else which I have no access to (I know 🙄). I know how to write code but where do I write it to send it to someone? I use a Mac and tried the atom application but my saved file couldn’t be opened on a windows computer.
