How to figure out why a page did poorly?

I'm a blogger and like everyone, some of my posts get ranked high on google search results, and some of them don't. Some of my posts are on a similar topic with a similar structure but some of them will do great and some of them won't even get indexed for my target keyword. How do you look back and figure out why a page did poorly or why it did well?
