Do duplicate images hurt SEO?

Hi,

I’m building a website for a client that’s essentially a catalog of office listings. He wants to use other peoples images to quickly increase the size of his catalog. Someone on my team said this would dramatically hurt our SEO. I then asked the person I was planning on contracting the SEO to and he said it wouldn’t matter.

What do you guys think, SEO experts of Reddit?
