Can someone offer an explanation about this super weird thing I just found?

So this webpage has barebones content. Usually pages like that are on the second page. They have very low domain authority as well. They barely have any backlinks. Yet...

First page. #1. This is for local seo. They are a lumber yard. Ahrefs tells me also that 5 months after their domain went live, they were getting good traffic.

The only strong domain they have backlinked from is from a local magazine. A single one.

In comparison, there are competitors that are carpenters that try to target this keyword that never comes close. Think "lumber <city name>". Yet these sites have loads of content, hundreds of backlinks (often spammy but hey it worked for all their other keywords).

So how the fuck is this one site doing so well consistently? It's like a site from 10 years ago. Is it just good analytics? Cause if that's case then, how can anyone move up? You can't get good analytics if you don't get good traffic at all. You don't get traffic because you don't have good analytics...catch 22..Tell me it ain't so.
