Aged domain with low backlinks vs a new domain

Hey, SEO newbie here, please take it easy if this question sounds dumb, but I would love to get some info on this.

There are multiple expired domains for my niche with 10-100 backlinks, not spam but from random websites, some niche related and others not, domains pointing 10-30, domain ages from 3-10 years.

On the other hand, there is a domain that has never been registered before, brand new, that is catchy. Would these aged domains give me any advantage over the brand new domain that has never been registered before? Would it give me a little bit of a "boost" for rankings etc?
