Looking for recommendations for Google places seo

I thought it would make sense to ask Reddit, I've been having issues with my company's Google places for a while now (from top 3 across most searches to basically non existent).

I am comfortable with the basics and got myself to top 3 before, but something is amiss that's beyond my reckoning.

Any recommendations for someone who will work with me to focus on the exact issues as opposed to give us $x per month and we do all your SEO? I kinda want to work on specific goals and mostly handle my own SEO but finding someone to do that is a little harder than I expected.
