Language Related SEO question

Hey Fam! So I have a few pages ranked that I get leads and traffic. However, I turned most of my website into English. I want to create a subdomain website for the pages that I am still ranking in Spanish. So here is how I plan to do it and was hoping to get feedback so I dont hurt the rank of the pages doing well already.

1) I will create a subdomain for the language es.websitename.com instead of websitename.com 2) I will upload the current website and download the website on new subdomain and delete all english pages so only spanish pages are "live". 3) Profit ???

j/k do you guys think there is something else that I could do? Do these steps seem logical and will not rank the pages you guys think? BTW i will keep the same URLs with the exception of the subdomain es.
