Blogging about multiple categories - smart or stupid?
I know that in the eyes of certain algorithms it's beneficial to "niche down" and have a specific topic for your content. In this way, you build a very specific audience interested in the one topic you're all about. And so when people see your content, they're more likely to engage and then subsequently your content is more likely to be seen by others.
What happens if you have a few different categories of content? For example, I work as a freelancer and currently I work between web design, photography and e-learning projects. Therefore I'm intending to start writing content relating to these categories.
Is this going to work in my favour or is this going to work against me? I'd rather not put a load of time and energy into a variety if it's going to shoot me in the foot. If it's more beneficial to get super specific then I guess I'll just have to focus on doing that!
Interested to hear your thoughts.
Additional comments: The overarching intention behind my content is to empower everyday people towards starting their own small businesses or side hustles and equipping them with the know-how across the variety of skills you need to have if you are a 1-person band and wish to succeed.
