[In 2021] What SEO backlinking Process you are still continuing and what process and practises you gave up?

As we know the SEO is an ever-changing field in 2010 comment backlinking and business directory submissions were the top things to do in SEO backlinking process. I think this practice has to be depreciated now. Mostly I do article submission and guest posting. Still, I hardly see my web pages get rank. I know many are trying PBN or Bulk link buying so what are the process that you have been using on backlinking to rank you pages?
