Trying to work out why our backlink isnt showing up?!

We have a successful business that operates in a niche, and we have started another similar business that operates in a different niche.

We put a link from our well established site to the new site on an about us page and the footer over a week ago and still arent showing up as having any backlinks. Can anyone explain why this might be happening?
