301 redirect and SEO keywords

Hi there, I am new to SEO. My question:

If I have a url with the keyword being e.g "red apples" - mysite dot com/red-apples and I redirect it to a new url e.g mysite dot com/fresh-apples, will "red apples" and "fresh apples" rank both? Or will google forget about the "red apples" and start ranking for "fresh apples"?
