Auto-Linking Certain Pages/Posts

Hey,

Quick question: say I have a page about "best iphone apps" and my site is about tech in general.

I write about tech a lot, so could/should I autolink on the site to the best iphone apps page every time I mention the term iPhone apps in a post?

This would quickly generate 100s of internal links to that page, making it a pillar post of sorts.

I've seen case studies of big newspapers doing this -- mail online -- for instance where it uses, I presume, autolinking software to link certain keywords to resource pages.

I like the idea of this in practice, it'd be great for internal links, but I'm just concerned it could be viewed as spammy from an SEO perspective?

Anyone got any thoughts/ideas on this?
