I created a subdirectory for my Spanish blog posts. Is this OK for SEO?

I didn't want to setup a plugin like polylang because I was worried I could mess up the website because I use elementor for my blog + a plugin called "premium add-ons for elementor".

So I just duplicated my home, translated into spanish and added the slug /es/. For the archives in Spanish it is /es/archive/

Then I created Spanish-only categories which only show in the Spanish version of the archive. Nevertheless, the blog posts are not under /es/archive/. It's just mydomain dot com/name-of-blog-post but in Spanish. Is this correct or should I give polylang a try?

I also added a link in the header which says "read in Spanish" which takes you to the Spanish home version, which has a button to go into the Spanish archives.

The Spanish posts don't show up in the main website which is in English.
