Domain name SEO for professional portfolio / personal website
I'm a software developer and maintain a personal website I use for personal marketing, displaying my portfolio, and blogging. Recruiters often use it as a reference, and I also use it to support some consulting that I do.
I'm in the process of completely re doing the site and am considering launching it with a new domain.
I own several domains related to my name, but am unable to get firstlast.com without paying $2000. I want to determine which domain I own (or another domain I might be able to purchase inexpensively) would have the best SEO for my website.
I own the following domains:
- first-last.com
- firstlast.me
- firstlast.dev
- firstmiddleinitiallast.com
- first.to
My last name is 8 characters and very common in the US. My first name is 4 characters and fairly uncommon.
Which of these domains (or another one) would be best for SEO? How much benefit would I get over these if I did purchase firstlast.com?
Also, does adding a CNAME from the other domains I own to the primary one I use for the site have any SEO benefit?
Any other feedback around optimizing SEO for this type of website is welcome too of course.
