Questions on forwarding or redirect for url

Hey guys,

I’ve got a few questions I’m hoping someone can help with. I’ve purchased several domains for my business that are related. The two primary ones I want to use are a longer descriptive URL (blankfinancialplanning.com) and a shorter URL (blankfp.com) as an example, but I’m having trouble thinking through it.

First should I point the short name towards the long name or vice versa?

I assume it will be easier to have my email at the shorter address and easier to get back links to the shorter one, but fp may not mean anything to my potential customers until they know about the business.

Second, should I set up 301 redirects or use namecheap’s domain forwarding option? Both domains are blank and as far as I know have no history.
