How to handle WordPress tag and category pages?
My business website is built on WordPress. The web developer set up the blog with tags and categories which I have been using but we don’t really leverage this on the front end. It’s just the blog archive and posts.
In Google Search Console I can see the categories and tags have their own URLs which are being indexed. I have a bit of background in SEO from a previous job and my gut is telling me I don’t want these pages indexed because they are essentially just different variations of the blog archive on WordPress.
I don’t think we’ll want to optimise them in the future, especially the tags.
Should I noindex the category and tag pages? Or is it going to screw anything up with the blog posts?
