Does Google Analytics lie about traffic?

My highest-ranking blog post took off today and I'm trying to figure out what's going on.

Basically, I have a very small website. My top-ranking blog post receives between 25 - 60 Google clicks per day. Today, Google Analytics says it's getting 100+ clicks per HOUR. I've never seen search traffic like this before on my website.

But here's where the confusion starts. This spiked traffic has been going on for five hours. Usually, I have a relatively high newsletter subscribe rate. But literally no one has subscribed from this burst in organic traffic. Is GA lying to me about this spike? Is this traffic all just bots? Has anyone else seen this before?
