They Never Appreciate You Until They Need You!

I had an old client of mine cancel their services with me to go with a cheaper company and while I hate that it happened as I thought this client was doing relatively well I can't necessarily blame them because I understand people are trying to save money any way they can under the current economy, especially small business owners; however, I did warn them that cheaper doesn't always mean better especially when dealing with a brand new company you haven't heard of before. They thanked me for the warning and ended up proceeding forward anyway and that was all I had heard from them over 2 years ago until about a week ago (insert shmoney dance)….

I received an email from the owner asking me how things were going, and while I wasn’t really sure why he messaged me I figured we didn’t end on bad terms so why not engage the conversation. Long story short after some back and forth he revealed to me that things had taken a turn for the worst as his other SEO company not only got his website penalized by Google but they then proceeded to ghost him about 6 months after starting. To make matters worse he decided to handle things on his own after clearly realizing that he was in over his head and thus the email to me after a few extra months of trying before eventually giving up. I wrote back to him that I’m sorry to hear when deep down I remembered that I had warned him about something like this happening, and I now have my newest client for almost double what he paid me originally. It's a bittersweet feeling as I have my client back, but at the same time I know I’ll be disavowing poor backlinks for the next few weeks. Wish me luck!
