SEO Companies & Poor Results

Hi everyone, I need a bit of advice. I work for a medium sized business and I look after all the digital marketing - social, website, content etc. We do hire an SEO company to take care of search and Google Ads. We’ve had a very bad September where all the metrics in Google Analytics trended down - users, sessions, time on site and so on. Our results are also down for paid and organic search.

When we appointed the SEO company, they migrated our site to their hosting service after it being on HostGator for 5 years. This happened at the end of August and I’ve read a change in the site hosting provider can negatively impact SEO. Is this correct? If so, it probably explains some of Septembers poor results.

We also had two landing pages completely redesigned and launched by them on the 20th September and an old video was removed from those landing pages. However, the video play goal wasn’t removed from GA, so our goals/conversions are down. Anyway, our SEO company is blaming the video and the old GA goal as the sole reason for ALL the bad results for the month of September. They’ve literally said that the video/goal issue is the sole reason for the bad results and the change in hosting has nothing to do with it.

I get this video goal issue will negatively impact conversions, but surely the video issue isn’t responsible for all the other metrics such as sessions, users and paid and organic search trending down in September?

We’ve always had great growth results month-on-month prior to this and it seems to have coincided with the hosting, which they says is not an issue needing any consideration.

Appreciate any feedback on this because I feel our SEO company isn’t great and are just looking for any excuse for the poor results.
