How do you build an impressive profile when you work at a mediocre agency?
I’m thinking about just launching my own website.
That’s the thing about marketing agencies. They look great at first. Until you get in and realize what kind of clients you’re dealing with and how limiting strategies are.
For example, one of my clients hasn’t even gotten their Googlemybusinessup. It kills me… it’s not even my job to do this so I suggested to my boss that we send a mass email to customers just with a marketing tip for them with steps on optimizing this.
My boss said it wasn’t that important for SEO, but I say otherwise. This is where people have their first impression of your business if they find you.
Limitations like that freaking kill me.
Also I suggested that we have a talk with one of our new clients who wants us to focus on a certain city/market. I said i think we need to ask them what their goal is with targeting this market. Is it to drive leads to their franchisee? If so, we need to talk about setting up a sales funnel.
Shot down. Was told we don’t need to know goals we just need to focus on what they said they want.
But how am I supposed to create meaningful work that sounds like it has no purpose but to just do what they want?
Ugh. Kills me. Worst part is that this type of attitude attracts a certain type of client who only cares about getting more traffic vs developing and growing their business.
What’s a woman to do?
