Google auto ads killing my core vitals on mobile. Suggestions?
I have a fairly popular niche website that has been around for 22 years. Things got wonky during the pandemic, but in general things are somewhat consistent in traffic, etc. But I have one issue that I know must be hurting me. Google search console is telling me that my mobile core vitals suck completely on mobile. Page experience says "No URLs with a good page experience on mobile, 96.6% good URLs on desktop."
In a nutshell, I have incredibly good scores on desktop, but every single page fails on mobile. I've tracked the issue down to Google ads as I use Auto Ads as it's far easier. The issue pretty much is all about my Cumulative Layout Shift as every other measure is in the green, and loading on mobile it's painful to watch all the shifting as a page loads, so I understand what's going on.
I've run tests and it definitely takes Auto Ads to position everything longer on any mobile browser whereas it's practically instantaneous on a desktop browser. Is there any way around this? For my niche, I was the website forever, but the past few years, when mobile became a real factor, my traffic has easily been cut in half if not more. Am I going to have to manually insert ad codes in order to fix this, or is there some other way? I use WordPress hosted on my own server (which has more than enough resources) if it makes any difference.
