Why is Google Including Image Alt Text in SERP Meta Descriptions?
Every article my company publishes has a meta-description included, and also a description in the structured data.
Many of our articles have a strange description showing in SERP results where the alt text of our header images is the first line of the SERP description. I tried to include an Imgur link showing this but I'll have to include it down in the comments because of Reddit's stupid anti-spam filters.
This is obviously terrible for CTR and I'm unsure of how to fix this because I've never seen this on any site I've worked on or client site.
Any ideas? Do I just need to keep publishing new meta-descriptions until one sticks?
