Best way to Optimize for a Best _____ List Google Carousel

Hey there. I have noticed that why I type in the term Best _____ List for my given industry. Let's say Best Payroll Software as an example, a google carousel appears at the top of the page with a list of companies. What is the best way to optimize my site to try to appear on that list? This is not for a product page but for a whole company and I haven't found any good answers for this so far. Thanks!
