Bouce rate and DOM update v page reload

I have a fairly popular web page where the dom updates but not the whole page (its a kind of shopping inventory where search terms don't trigger a complete reload, they just call a api which updates the results dom). The consequence of this approach is the bounce rate is seems quite high (there's often no need to leave the page), even though my own stats show that users have done multiple searches.

I'm not sure if this is not maximising the true popularity in the eyes of google as it thinks users aren't that bothered, and if so is there anything I can do? I'm hesitant to put the google analytics within the dom part that gets refreshed for instance as google may well see that as naughty.
