What exactly went wrong with craigslist's SEO?
Note: Let me start by saying this is not a trolling question, It's rather serious, And I know that this is not anyones concern except Craigslist, Certainly for a site that size they can take care of themselves, But I'm curious what's the underlying problem that's causing it.
You literally have to type the word "craigslist" to get craigslist show up on search results, No matter it's Google, Bing, Yahoo, Duckduckgo.
If you search "job related keywords", "rent related keywords", "walk a dog job", "location + rent", "buy a house", It's just not there, I don't see <noindex>
tag on their website either.
So if content and user experience is king, I think Craigslist have one of the best contents and user experience, simple to use, And it's the world top 20s website, So why is it not there, Not on front page, Not on 2nd page, Not 3rd, Not even the 4th.
What have craigslist done wrong, Is it the geolocation.craigslist.org redirects that's bad for SEO? or somehow these contents been marked as duplicate since they are all very similar? What exactly went wrong with craigslist's SEO?
