Combining ccTLD with international subdirectory.

Hi. I will keep it short. Currently, we have a website with ccTLD, for example www,website,ru. We are thinking about making a subdirectory dedicated for germany, so it would look like this www,website,ru/de/de. I know the pros and cons of implementing subdirs with .com domain, but what about this example? Are there any serious downsides to this solution outside of url look? I can't find any info on the internet about this approach.

I know that changing our website to .com would probably be a better idea, but we would rather not change our established country domain just for one additional country.
