Broken link from large site...

Hello SEO crew!

I found a domain for a product / blog that was around several years ago. It looks like the domain has not been used in years. Two very very large websites (top 3k Alexa) have articles from several years ago that have follow links to that URL.

This product / blog is almost identical to the site in my niche. Is there any SEO value to doing a 301 redirect from the domain to my site? Will I get credit for any of the backlinks (12 - 3 major ones) it has or not worth it?
